PINGüINO
surface study,

result from a series of three-dimensional studies on the elegant and curved gestures found in the convex surfaces that make the body of a penguin. Prior to making the final piece in plaster, I abstracted the animal's surfaces in clay and paper to later carve an 18x18x10 in block of plaster reflecting this studies. Contrast between smooth and harsh transitions are intentional, allowing the distinction between its dominant, sub-dominant and sub-ordinate elements.
